The Chameleon Cube
Real World Measurements, Spring 2013
The aim of this project was to design an LED cube which was capable of detecting the color of the surface on which the cube rested (e.g. a piece of colored paper) and replicate that color on a tri-color LED on the top of the cube. Previous attempts at this project involved using a microprocessor to process the signal and determine the color. However, this cube is completely analog as can be seen in the pictures above. There is no microprocessor. Instead, the circuit contains 20 operational amplifiers to perform various filtering and averaging functions in order to allow the circuit to function as seen.
