Volunteer Physicians
User Oriented Collaborative Design (UOCD), Spring 2014

The aim of this project was to get to know a group of volunteer physicians and design a product that would make a significant impact in the lives of the users we anticipated we would be designing for. The final deliverable was a product proposal where we proposed a design comprising of the function, interaction and character of the product we thought would be impactful.

Our final product proposal was the S2, a stethoscope add-on attached to the bell of the stethoscope and had a telescoping screen in order to view patient data and other information that the doctor may require. It also used machine learning to listen to a doctor-patient interaction and keep a summary of the visit as it is relevant to the patient's medical record. At the end of the visit, the S2 generates a medical record that the doctor can edit if need be. Once the doctor signs off on the medical record, the S2 interfaces with existing EMR and files that record away. Images of our final product proposal can be found in the gallery below:
If you are interested in the process which led us to this product, here's a handy slide deck that documents that process!
